Do You Really Need an Eye Cream?
Do you really need an eye cream? The short answer is YES!
The area around the eyes is one of the first to show signs of aging. The skin is thinner and more prone to puffiness, lines, wrinkles and dark circles and therefor requires products specifically designed for this delicate area. The great thing about using a high quality eye product though is that it's one of the first places where you can see visible results! The latest peptide technology advances can help relax the small muscles around the eyes to help decrease muscle contractions and smooth the surface of the skin. Additional anti-aging ingredients can lighten dark circles, reduce puffiness and smooth fine lines and crows feet.
A question we often hear at Derma MD is, "When should I start using an eye cream?"
We generally recommend that our clients start using an eye cream around the age of 25. Why is this? It's all about collagen. When we are young our skin is plump, smooth and taut because it is full of youthful collagen. As we begin to age collagen is lost and is not easily replaced. This process begins at around 25 years old and as the skin ages we continue to lose collagen at a rate of about 1.5% per year. This loss of collagen and plumpness in the skin can cause dark circles to begin to form and fine lines to begin to appear in the corners of the eyes. Brows begin to drop and eyelids begin to sag contributing to a tired and less rejuvenated appearance. Peptides such as those found in Peptide Eye Crème can help replace some of this lost collagen by signalling the skin to produce more. Additional ingredients such as Haloxyl™ and Eyeliss™ can also help combat fine lines and dark circles while keeping this delicate skin hydrated.
Which eye cream should you use?
We generally recommend Peptide Eye Crème for all skin types and ages.
Our best selling eye product, Peptide Eye Crème is a great choice for anyone who is concerned about dark circles, puffiness and fine lines. it contains anti-aging ingredients Haloxyl™ and Eyeliss™ to combat puffiness and dark circles as well as Acetylhexapeptide-8 to relax facial contractions for a smoother eye area. This hydrating formula is great for dry skin and creates a smooth surface for applying concealer and makeup.
For an additional boost and for serious under eye lines and wrinkles, Eye Lifting & Tightening Serum contains 10% Acetylhexapeptide-8 to relax facial muscles and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles by up to 30% with daily use. Matrixyl 3000 helps to build collagen to give the eye a rejuvenated and more youthful looking appearance. We recommend layering it under Peptide Eye Crème for more intense hydration. Bonus: It can also be used around the lip area to help reduce the appearance of lip lines!
For those whose dark circles are more pigment based we recommend "Eliminate" Lighten & Brighten Eye. This unique formulation contains Vitamin C, L-Arbutin and Kojic acid to brighten and lighten pigmented areas around the eyes. Chrysanthemum Extract helps to reduce puffiness while Shea Butter smooths and moisturizes skin.
